is the ancient Spanish art of leatherwork; a tradition handed down
from generation to generation and preserved today by only a few
family enterprises.
Using authentic tools and techniques
each leather piece is created with meticulous care and attention
to detail by craftsmen dedicated to the traditions of their ancestors.
From the selection of the raw hide to the creation of each individual
stitch, generations of knowledge are invested into each item resulting
in maximum quality.
In recognition of this Spanish art
and the quality it represents,
was established in 2000, by Romana Illera. Raised in New York, with
a taste for European design, this cosmopolitan entrepreneuse is
dedicated to bringing you products rooted in tradition, integrity
and craftsmanship.

The name
is a recomposition of the word azahar, which comes
from the Arabic word al-azhar. It means white flower with everlasting
scent from the orange, lemon and cedar tree that are widely found
in the southern part of Spain.
is one of the many Arabic words adopted and utilized in the Spanish
language after 800 years of Arabic settlement, from Northern Africa,
in Spain.
